Answers: Why are you allowed to eat fish on fridays but no other meat if ur caholic?

b/c there was a bigger supply of fish then there was cows

i rly dont know i dont go to church and i didnt have my 1st communion where you learn about these things

but all i know is being caholic today is rly killing me cuz i want a burger!!!!!!

I think it has to do that if you have five cows, then you could have three million fish. Fish are so plentiful, that it does not matter if you eat them.

it comes from water not land...

I guess Church doctrine does not consider fish to be meat.

Never did understand that. The point is to sacrifice, and eating a lobster or scallops is not exactly more of a sacrifice than eating a burger. I suspect that at one time, meat was more of a special occasion food than fish was as people that lived in coastal towns (like almost everybody in those days) had easy access to fish whereas meat was eaten less often.

I just try to be more modest in our foods on friday. I keep to the spirit of the rule rather than the letter of the rule.

It has to do with a deal the Vatican set up with fishermen a very long time ago.

To increase their sales, Catholics had to not eat meat on Fridays. This left fish in many parts of the world.
