Answers:
Onions produce the chemical irritant known as syn-propanethial-S-oxide. This gas is also known as the Lachrymatory Factor (‘crying factor'). It stimulates the eyes' lachrymal glands so they release tears. This gas is instable and can react with water which results in, among others, sulphuric acid. When this happens in the eye, the eyes start to neutralize the acid by producing large amounts of water, and thus make us cry.
Cooling your onion before cutting can help...or cutting them when wet...or even under cool running water. Most of the irritant is found in the thin lining between the layers of onion so the least contact with that helps too.
Some kinds of onions do not have as much of the enzymes and gasses but your flavor is different with these types also.
Another less successful remedy is to chew crackers or bread while your chopping....not sure why this helps.
Cold water or refrigerated onions work best for me. Just remember not to take a deep breath when you first slice. Good Luck!
Other Answers:
yeah baby.
cut em and fry em and put some beer on em
If you put the onion in the fridge first, it will sting your eyes less.
You can also try sticking a piece of bread on the tip of your knife before cutting the onions. It's supposed to absorb the chemicals that make you cry.
Did someone say BEER!!!!
Not right now,maybe for dinner.
Run your knife under the cold tap before and during cutting. It helps.

cut potatoes?
I don't understand your question , if it mean do cut? then the answer is yes.
If it means problems with cutting onions then put them under a pump(water) for 2 min then cut it, in this way you can prevent tears.or also put them in a fridge .
I found out that the thing that makes you cry is the releasing of acid as you cut into the onion. The spray is released into the air and it gets in your eyes. That's why some people wear goggles. But, it doesn't totally stop the fumes, some even going up your nose. What I do, to limit the effect on my eyes...I don't breathe through my nose, inhaling through my mouth normally and gently blowing on the onion while exhaling. I know that sounds silly, but it helps blow away the fumes from my eyes and keeps me tear-free. Of course, you can avoid the whole problem by throwing the onion into a food processor and pushing the button. <*)))><
Do not breathe in from nose. Use a lot of tissue to wipe nose. Just go to a resturant and ask for chopped onions?

Cut the onion the way it grows - from the top to the bottom. For some reason, most of the strong smell is at the bottom near where the roots would grow
yes i love onions
try putting in the fridge for a bit before peeling
Let someone else do the cutting.
