I am about to make some chocolate covered strawberries but I have a question about melting the chocolate. What setting should i use on the stove so that it doesnt stick to the bottom of the pot? I don't have a double boiler (w/e that is)...Whats the longest time to leave the chocolate in the pot w/out burning it? Thanks in advance for the help

Answers:
Generally, a double boiler consists of two pans; the lower pan, in which water is placed to simmer, and the upper pan, into which goes the food. Remember to use them on gentle-to-moderate heat.

You can create a makeshift double boiler by placing a smaller pan (for the food) inside a larger one (for the water), and elevating it with a trivet of some sort.

Its the best way to melt chocolate. Sound good! if you still cant figure it out, I'd say Medium Low, so its just barely liquid, and will set quickly.

Other Answers:
put it in the microwave.

microwave works but boil the chocolet. Put some butter at the bottom of the pot and it wont stick. put in oil with it and keep stirring it or it wil stick to the pan.

take a regular pan...put about 1/2 with water..let that boil...put a bowl that is larger than the top of the pan on it...put your chocolate in that....it wont burn that way...stir til dissolved..or put some chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and nuke it for about 30 second increments...stir after each time...it wont look like the chocolate is melted at first...but it will...good luck

I always use a double boiler. If you do not have one just put a small pot into a larger one. Be sure that the water touches the bottom of the smaller pot. Be sure and keep stirring gently until almost all of the chocolate is melted. Usually the remaining heat of the chocolate will melt the remaining bits.

Good luck.

best way to melt chocolate is in a double boiler. put it in the microwave.

Add some butter to is and heat slowly in a double boiler stirring constantly.
