If you are not willing to get rid of dairy in an effort to lose weight at least switch to the dry cheeses like Romano and Parmesan. You can get them already ground and add them to any salad or food you like. It is the lowest fat and cholesterol cheese out there! Don't give up cheese (or any dairy for that matter!) if you'd like to lose weight, there are lots of good options out there and dairy products can help you lose weight, just choose low-fat and fat-free milk, yogurts, cottage cheese, etc. And when it comes to cheeses, eat in moderation, an ounce is usually plenty. And as Starchild said, parmesan is a good one! Use parmesan, assiago, romano, mizithra, and feta in salads for a bit of flavor. If you like swiss for sandwiches, I recommend Jarlsberg lite, it's excellent and still melts for grilled or baked foods.
