I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian because I don't think an animal should die just because I'm hungry.

It WILL make a difference. Being vegetarian for one year saves 90-some animals' lives. (I just read that on here, lol)

My favorite is vegetarian chili. In a large pot, combine:

One large can of tomato juice
Two cans, your choice any combination, kidney beans (dark or light red), chili seasoned beans, black beans
Two LARGE cans (or about 5 small cans) of diced tomatoes
One can corn, drained
One sauteed, chopped green pepper (if desired)
Season with:
Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and
Chili powder to taste
Cayenne pepper if you like it hot
(you can also add textured vegetable protein -TVP, available in health food stores--if you really miss the meat Reconstitute it, if you get it dried, and fry it with seasonings before you add it to the chili).
Simmer together for about 30 minutes. Serve crackers, and/or top with cheese.

Also, substitute cubed tofu for meat in your stir-fry. You can get frozen stir-fry veggies, or just use snap peas, green beans, baby corn, mushrooms, water chestnuts, (any combination). Sautee with vegetable or canola oil, and season with ginger, soy sauce, garlic, and/or a squeeze of citrus... serve over rice.

Also, for the convenience factor, check out the frozen food section of your local grocery store; most places stock vegetarian foods like burritos, pocket sandwitches, bowls, etc. that are all natural, good for you, and microwave in minutes. They're a little pricier than processed, non-vegetarian foods... but they're better for you and don't harm animals. Try Boca burgers (they taste the most like the real thing) and Tofu Pups (soy hot dogs)... both great for grilling. They even make soy lunch"meat".

if thats the only reason you are thinking of being a vegetarian, i would think twice. whether or not you eat meat, at least 3/4 of the world still will. the truth is, by not eating meat, you are kind of wasting it. but if you really want to become vegetarian, here are some good recipe sites to check out...

Their are louts of Vegetarian Meatless food on the market that are very tasty, and you can get them in Co up department stores,
but tray this which is easy to ****, and in no time you are finished.you need Green beans, tomato's,
Aubergines, and some unsalted nuts, and you just free the vegetables, separately and then put them in the free pan and add any flavor that you like and sure cream and let it cook very short and eat with vol corn rise.

Excellent reason for becoming vegetarian! As a vegetarian you can eat cheese, milk, and eggs.

Vegetables can be lightly sauteed and then use those three things to dress them up. Cheese sprinked and melted on broccoli, cauliflower, and on pasta dishes. Eggs scrambled with any vegetables, and eggs are used in baked goods like muffins, bagels, cakes, cookies, etc. Milk for cereal, soups, and puddings.

There are so much foods out there for you to eat that an animal does not have to die for your taste buds. Many ethnic dishes are already vegetarian and very tasty. In fact you can now buy them in the supermarkets in the frozen food section! Like mexican bean enchiladas/burritos, Indian dishes (the word paneer means cottage cheese that is homemade into large chunks), vegetarian pizzas (just cheese, or cheese with spinach, or cheese with sweet peppers and more vegetables), chinese stifries (I love my tofu fried!) or thai stirfries if you like spicy, and middle eastern hummous and tabouli/ or falafels in pita bread.Yum! Make sure you get whole grains (in your cereal, bread, and other baked goods), brown rice (brown basmati, brown jasmine, or even short grain brown), and vegetables that are the color of the rainbow in your meals for all the nutrients your body desires.

Also, by not eating meat, the demand for meat goes down (slowly unfortunately - usually one person at a time switching over to vegetarianism/veganism, or dying from obesity, heart disease, and other related diseases) and less animals are killed. It is only the demand for meat that makes them be killed.
I am not a vegetarian, however, There are some great vegitarian dishes. I have been living in China for some time, and it really is incredible how versatile some of the methods and seasonings for cooking veggies can be. I plan on getting ethnic vegetarian cookbooks when I return to the states, and it might make your weaning from meat easier if you try cooking styles and methods from all over the world.
