Answers:
All gone my friend. Corporate America has tried to maximize shelf life. Fuzzy peaches do not hold very well and are not an ideal product. Most fruit is waxed now before hitting shelfs to increase shelf life.
If you wax a peach, it is no longer fuzzy, so those days are gone. It is all about shelf life.

Try a local farmers markt and you have a chance

Other Answers:
Try a farmers market, perhaps? They're still around. You just have to find them.

Did they go out of season, not growing anymore? I have been wondering that same thing. I am from NC, and we have many fruit and veggie stands from local farmers around here, but all of the peaches I have come across, just don't look that good, and the ones that look good are extremely hard. I did have someone tell me to put them in a paper bag on the counter for a couple of days and that they will ripen.

This has just not been a good year due to the weather. There was an article on t.v. the other day as well in regards to this. It's unfortunate. Pray for weather to be what it needs to be throughout each year.

Peaches grow in my area. It was not a very good year for peaches. They were small and not very juicy. We didn't get enough rain and it was too hot too early. The plums were the same way.
