Ital is food that is pure in form. Most organic foods would or could be considered ital. Any food that is chemically altered is not ital. Pork, shellfish and any fish that is longer than 12 inches in length are not ital as well. Oragnic Vegetarian or veganism is usually followed if a Rastafari follows ital.

Ital is important to Rastfari much like Halal or Kashrut is to the Muslims and Jews. It brings the believer closer to God and from a religious view point, makes the body (or temple) pure in form.
