There is a veg. hotel behind commercial street, which sells very cheap food. Moreover any veg food is cheap in bangalore than non veg. Hotels like Taj in shivajinagar have a ghee rice plate for 20 RS on thier menu whereas the same in Imperial in brigade road will cost you about 28 to 30 RS per plate. So all depends on which hotel or in which area you go to. Just look out for areas which are not for the rich anyway.Generally speaking about bangalore, it is not like before. Poluted, corrupted,crowded and the infrastructure is at its worst stage. Prises have shot up considerably within the past 5 years and they are just shooting up in every field, take it for food or on the whole the cost of living itself has gone up very high..a middle class family which could manage with 3 to 4000 RS monthly has to struggle for nearly double now...Minimum auto charge ( transport ) was just 4 RS 5 years back and now its gone upto 12 or 14 RS.It was once called the Garden city but now i think its a Garbage city, you will see garbage bins just left for days ,stinking and the most horrible thing is when it rains this garbage is pushed away into the streets spreading the germs and polution more amoung the people. Its disgusting.
I think if you are a bangalorean you will understand this but if you are tourist or a student from abroad better make good arrangements to survive there. ..goodluck.
