I like fried okra, pickled okra and okra & tomatoes, but I don't like it in gumbo!

Okra is OK but is pretty tasteless.

I tend to only use it if I am making something that I want to thicken the sauce of without adding cornflour or similar.

It depends how you cook it. Not only it tastes good, it has some excellent cancer curing qualities as well.
