why do some people think they are vegetarians even if they eat seafood. i don't understand. just because it lives in the ocean, does that not make it an animal or is it not meat? what about the vegetarians that say, "I only eat red meat"? I don't get it. vegetarian means no meat, no animals

Answer:
because these people want to think that they are special.
They are only fooling themselves. Why care?
they are ignorrant lol
I don't know but they need to read up on the meaning of the term more befre they use it...

Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. An increasing number of vegetarians also abstain from using any animal products, including dairy, eggs, and honey. These vegetarians are called vegans (pronounced VEE-guns). Among the many reasons for being a vegetarian are health, environmental, ecological, and religious concerns, dislike for meat, compassion for animals. economics, world hunger, and belief in non-violence. The American Dietetic Association has affirmed that a vegetarian diet can meet all known nutrient needs and be healthful for people of all ages. The key to a healthy vegetarian diet, as with any other diet, is to eat a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, plenty of leafy greens, whole grain products, nuts, scads, and legumes
Ignorance is bliss!
Why do we have to keep constantly putting people into groups and labeling them? Who cares what people eat? Just worry about yourself and your beliefs and lifestyles.
It's my understanding that those who eat no meat, seafood, etc. are vegan. I've also noticed that some who are vegetarians each seafood.
To me been a vegetarian.Well You can't eat cheese or drink milk. That is part of a cow.Am I wright?I know were you are coming from.
because they are tooooooooooooooo dumb to know witch is which
I suppose it similar to people saying they Christians because they go to church on Sunday! LOL People have a funny way of justifying certain things to make things fit their lives thats for sure.
ROCK ON.

The foolish myth that fish is not meat needs to be dispelled!
Fish is, environmentally, one of the WORST meats you can eat. Overfishing, ocean-bottom trawling! And carnivorous farmed fish requires enormous amounts of ocean-caught fish for food, not to mention the diseases that flourish in such cramped conditions and are then free to travel through the cage into rivers where wild fish live.

Eating fish is environmentally devestating! Look at the North Atlantic Cod - overfished until there were so few left it was no longer worth catching, they were catching babies in the end. And the stocks still show no sign of recovery.

SHAME on people who eat fish and call themselves "vegetarian" and think they are being ethical.
its all in the interpretationof "vegetarian"
what need Isay more
I hate labels. however the correct term is pesco vegetarian which is a vegetarian that eats fish.
I get frustrated when certain journos get it wrong too!! They write articles about chicken eating 'Vegetarians' which is an oxymoron. I read an article once saying that '....some vegetarians eat a little red meat once a month...' I was thinking this is cr*p, my hubby eats meat maybe 6 times in a year (live and let live) but still classes himself an omnivore.

As for pescatarianism, (people who abstain from meat but eat fish, seafood and vegetables) it is a step in the right direction but they are still eating flesh!
the delusional vegetarian, i don't eat meat unless it swims..........or i 'm a vegetarian i don't eat mammals but fish, snakes, turtles, and crocodile are yummy! the ones i love are the ones protesting meat while wearing leather shoes, so it's better to skin 'em and leave the carcass for the vultures.
ok well i am a vegetarian. and i truely hate it when people call themselves veggies when they eat meat! theres this one girl at my school and she calls her self a vegetarian , she doesnt eat any red meat but she eats fish and chicken. i hate it when she says that i wanna go over and slap her. posers
Why do people get so hung up on what other people call themselves? This isn't a church where only true believers are welcome, folks! There are all gradations of diet from my friend Tom who says, "meat and potatoes, but hold the potatoes," to another friend, Vince, who is macrobiotic and eats little besides brown rice.

We discourage people from transitioning into a vegetarian diet if we insult them and demand that they eat according to our orthodoxy. We need to let up on labels, people. There is room for flexibility in the term "vegetarian," and we should be encouraging people along the path instead of abusing them for not being pure enough. I am appalled by the rigidity of some people here. Let's encourage new vegetarians, not turn them away with arbitrary tests of who is a REAL vegetarian. Chill!
