Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days, anyone help us?
Kitty said: Yes.Why do vegans have poor eyesight?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why do vegans have poor eyesight?),it will help you,my kids.

My mother-in-law has been having me drive her everywhere because she can not see good enough to drive lately. She is on one of these cult vegan diets.

I on the other hand, have 20/20 vision. I include red meat in my diet for great eyesight.

Science has proven that a vegan diet is not healthy. People who are vegans suffer from malnutrition. I just wish I knew what I could do to save my mother-in-law's eyesight before it is too late.

Answer:
You automatically blame her diet before you even think of any other possibility......Hereditary? You must educate yourself before you assume!!!
Is this a question or just your soap box?
the thing that your body uses to build brain and eyes cells is called "DHA". It can be found in high quantities in organic eggs/eggs from chickens are free to rome and chickens that have been fed healthy foods, not garbage, and chickens that haven't been given antibiotics.

Does vegan mean no eggs? Or is she eating non-organic eggs?
This DHA is something that our bodies either can't produce, or they produce a very small amount of it -- we need to consume foods or supplements to get it.
I hope so. They think they're better than us.
meat helps your eyesight
just because shes vegan doesnt mean her eye-sight it connected to it.
Im vegan and im not malnurished at all, and i mantain a sensible diet
and i think being vegetarian/vegan is the HEALTHIST decision to make
get for her some good multivitamins...
Sounds like she's OLDER than you so you cant compare to yourself.
"Cult"?!?!?!
I'm vegan, with Perfect Vision, and a vision for the world, thank you!
Carrots, carrots, carrots, etc. etc.
It is God's way of punishing her for following a stupid diet. Tell her to get some meat in her! Err... the food kind.
actually, science has proven that vegetarians tend to be healthier than meat eaters. That is because ther tend to eat more fruits and vegetables, and less junk food.
I am not advocating vegetarianisn here, as I eat meat, but rather correcting your statement/question.
As for the eyesight thing, there are as many meat-eaters and vegetarians with either poor or good eyesight
Wikipedia definition of cult: "In religion and sociology, a cult is a cohesive group of people (often a relatively small and recently founded religious movement) devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture or society considers to be far outside the mainstream. Its separate status may come about either due to its novel belief system, because of its idiosyncratic practices or because it opposes the interests of the mainstream culture. Other non-religious groups may also display cult-like characteristics."
Vegetarianism has been around for thousands of year, and there are millions of vegetarian on this planet. India has a population of over 1 billion. and over half of them are vegetarian. Do the math, and that makes that there are more vegetarian Indians than total Americans. Still call that a cult?
please, she's probably hoping she goes blind and deaf so she doesn't have to see or hear you. Are you really this big of a dick in real life. I eat meat but god, i could give a crap if the rest of the world ate their own belly button lint. why do you care? do you own a beef importing business or run a slaughterhouse? At first your questions were kind of funny but now: your just an a-hole.
So many logic errors, so little time to refute them all.

Your mother-in-law's eye problems could be caused by any number of things besides her diet. Speaking of that, heredity, not diet, is apt to explain *your* 20-20 vision. And the only time I've ever heard of meat being good for eye problems is putting a cold raw steak on a shiner to reduce swelling.

And as for "science has proven that a vegan diet is not healthy," cite your sources! You can say that science has proven that the sky is green and the grass is purple. But if you don't quote your sources and give references to verify your claims, then don't be surprised if people don't believe you.
Umm. I am a vegan and i have great eyesight thank you very much.
um not all vegans have bad eyes dude. my cousin is vegan and she has 20/20. they can have tofu, nuts, and eat other things or even take vitamins that supply their proteins and minerals.
Well, maybe it's true, maybe it's not. But why don't you reccomend a vegetarian diet? It's healthier, if you really believe that. My friend is a vegetarian, in fact, the guy I like is a vegetarian, my principal is a vegetarian... it's pretty good.
Red meat obviously has a bad effect on the brain. Could this be vCJD?
why are you blaming your mother in law eyesight with vegeterians, it doesn't have to do with it, it means her diet lacked vitamin A
If you had 20/20 vision you might want to use it for your poor spelling dude!!! I wish I knew where you got your twisted facts from! Unfortunately I have 20/20 vision too so I can still see your STUPID and POINTLESS questions and B*TT UGLY (MARTIAN) photo!!! Can you not put a picture of John Cussak or Andrew McCarthy there instead!!!
I think you'll find that it's not necessarily the vegan diet that is causing her bad eyesight. I think you'll find that there are plenty of meat-eaters that have poor eyesight too. Regardless of whether one eats meat, or not, the important question is whether one is getting enough vitamins and minerals in their diet. Both meat-eaters and vegans can have vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Eating meat doesn't automatically equal a balanced diet. For vegans, the biggest concern is Vitamin B12, which is found mainly in meat, eggs, and dairy products. Iron may also be a concern, but their are plenty of non-animal sources of iron (although not absorbed as well as from animal sources). I suggest not trying to convince your mother-in-law to give up her vegan diet, but try to get her to re-analyse her vitamin/mineral intake. She could, for example, go to a doctor and just ask for her vitamin/mineral levels to be checked, because she is vegan. This will probably be done through a blood test. After this, the doctor will be able to find what vitamins she in low on, and what foods/supplements she should take.
Specifically, about the poor eyesight, it may well not be her diet. If you want to help her out, recommend she goes to an optometrist.
...wow. you're the dumbest person i've come across in a long time.
Your mother-in-law has probably poked her eyes out in desparation when she looks at what her daughter has married.

I bet she begs you not to have kids, eh ?
how old is your mother in-law ? presumably she is 20+ years older than you
say you are 40 she is 60 pretty old
no science hasnt proved that vegans are unhealthy it HAS proved that if you arent careful it WILLbe unhalthy but scince when has meat been healthy If you eat right then a vegan diet is healthy
veganism isnt a cult ok
dont make you motherinlaw eat meat her choice even if its killing her which it isnt its her choice
like yours is to eat meat

anyway having bad eyesight to me isnt such a bad thing when you think about the animals you are saving even if it does matke you have bad eyesight but i dont think it does
You must eat a lot of rabbits since rabbits eat carrots and carrots are good for eyesight.

That statement makes as much sense as your ramblings.
Vitamin A is needed for eye health. Where is the best source?
CARROTS!
Nonsense.
Meat clearly doesn't help your brain much.
I suggest you look at the facts before blaming all problems on a vegan diet.

Vegan and vegetarian diets are healthier than meat diets AS LONG AS THEY ARE WELL BALANCED. Anyone can become malnurished whether they eat meat or not. The trick is ensuring a well balanced mix of protein, carbs and healthy fats, and this can be done regardless of what diet you are on. There are plenty of vegetarian forms of protein to ensure vegans and veggies aren't malnurished, but then you wouldn't be looking at that would you? The thing is, most people who want to eat meat and criticise veggies will always refuse to look at the real facts because they don't want to get out of their bubble and see that there are other ways to be healthy. They don't want to hear it. And that is a real shame.

Your mother-in-law's bad eyesight is nothing to do with her diet. With a vegan diet statistically her eyes would be in better shape considering the amount ot fruit and veg she's likely to eat. She's probably just inheritated bad eyes in her her genes.

My advice to you? Either find some true facts about veganism and realise you're wrong, or stop making ridiculous assumptoms about things you know nothing about and criticising veggies. At the end of the day we're living a healthier lifestyle and one day this will be widely known by everyone.
I think poor eyesight is associated with what used to be called 'self-abuse'? This keyboard is getting hrdr t se...
