Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why wasn"t my meal comped?),it will help you,my kids.

I ordered a garden skillet at Baker"s Square- halfway through found ham in it. Waitress offered a meager apology and that was it! Hopefully pies are still vegetarian...

Answers:
That could have been a deadly mistake. I have worked several restaurants that stressed to make the order only as ordered, regardless of the normal standards of the dish. What if you had been allergic to the ham? This would have caused you alot of complications(possibly death), and the company would have been liable. I would have spoken with the manager about the mistake, and they would have either given you your meal for free, or offered for you to come back at a later day on them. At least a good restaurant would do that.

Other Answers:
Sometimes the restaurant (if it's good) will offer a comped meal if there's something very wrong with the meal. Good ones will do it automatically; you have to ask for it from others.

whoa.I would be pissed if I were you. You should have spoken to the manager. I mean...what if you had dietary or religious restrictions? Did you ask for compensation? If an apology will suffice then that is what is appropriate.

You should have had a hissy fit ( polite hissy fit)...if I was a vegetarian I know I would have. The restaurant should have replaced your meal and kissed your feet while offering profuse apologies. I know for sure that the restaurant I work at would have replaced your meal and given it to you for free. We also would have given you a coupon for next time you visit ( hopefully you would)
