Answer:
Bananas will continue to ripen at room temperature. So, when they are at the prefect ripeness for your choice, you can refrigerate them. They will not continue to ripen and will not go bad. However, the peel will blacken as if they were way overripe. The peel colour is an illusion. I've eaten them many times after they've been refrigerated at the right point and they are never, ever spoiled that way.
no, it makes them go bad, leave them on the counter
No, Actually if you would want to ripen them faster put them in the icebox, otherwise leave them on the counter. Cold makes them turn brown..
If they are already ripened then yes. The peel will turn dark but the banana will still be yummy. If you like making banana bread you can even store them in the freezer until you are ready to bake some bread. Just put them in a ziploc and put them in the freezer.
I have heard that
just by a couple of days................freeze them, then put them in muffins or banana pie
no, it will turn them brown and nasty. my favorite ways to use bananas that are turning are to make banana bread OR you can PEEL THEM, slice them into 1/4 inch slices, and put in single layer in sealed ziplock baggy to put in FREEZER. Then if you make hot oatmeal in the morning, you can toss in the "banana coins" cool it off and it is perfect. Or they're just good plain as a cold fruity icecream alternative. unpeeled frozen bananas turn black and goopy! :)
bananas, like avacados, keep ripening after being picked, so if left out they naturally ripen, by putting them in the fridge, you slow down the process, the skin browns but they are still ok. When they are cheap in season, I buy lots, peel, wrap in clingwrap and freeze. I can then use for baking or smoothies when none about!
No never put bananas in the fridge. So leave it out of the fridge if you want it lasting a bit longer.
