This I know. Animals are on this earth for their own reasons, just as we are. We all evolved, just we came out as the most intelligent. That is not to say we are "best".
Humans have the worst defence of all living creatures. We have no claws, no fangs etc. We can't even run that fast. The only way we can be "better" than other animals is via what we make. Eg cars, planes, submarines etc.
We are all living creatures and should learn to respect others. Just because we are more intelligence does not give us the right to treat others with no respect.
A pig is more intelligent than a 3 year old human child. Not all humans are more intelligence than other animals. babies, special needs etc.
So if you are saying (which you are not directly) that animals deserve to be killed and eaten because they are not as clever as humans... Why are you not saying that babies and special needs humans should be killed too?
Therefore, animals do not deserve to die just because of how they evolved! Animals weren't put here for our benefit; they came about the same way as we did, through evolution.
however, there is nothing wrong with our using them for our own ends. In the same way lions eat animals, so do we; it's nature. We may not quite be top of the food chain, but there are very few things that would try to eat us, unless we were already dead.

Why don't they eat people I don't know. It just doesn't make sense.
