just wondering why.

Answers:
This is deeper than loving animals. The choice for me to become vegetarian was simple. Animals do have souls and to eat one is akin to cannibalism

Other Answers:
Health reasons or they are mad about the meat industry

Because the value animal lives more than human lives. It's sick and unnatural. Animals don't have souls so eat up I say.
because they love animals
cause they see how meat is slaughtered and processed
the thought of eating a dead animals flesh..i like a good ribeye on the grill myself.
i dont know tell me why.....''
cos they don't want to eat animals, don't want to contribute to animal's suffering (that is widespread in the meat industry), plus being a vegetarian is healthier.
Cuz they're gullible little libs that absorb the insanity of Hollywood morons as if it were sacred knowledge;) LOL

No but really folks, it matters not why, for "To each their own" I always say, and there are many reasons why, some people think it's cruel to eat animals, some people use it as a form of diet, some people are allergic to various meats, and some people are just nuts;) LOL
I became vegetarian when I realised the cruelty that is involved in the rearing and slaughtering of animals for human consumption. Also when I realised how many antibiotics and growth hormones are fed to these animals, which ultimately get passed on in the food chain. There is a lot more to this than people ever realise and it's not for me to "preach" about it, but if people choose to find out what goes on, I doubt a great deal of them will ever eat meat again. It also involves the destruction of the world's rain forests to grow grain to feed animals. The same grain fed to humans could feed far more than the animal which has been fed that grain ever could.

I expect a lot of people will try to mock me because of this, but I do not care that they may think I am odd because of my views, or that I will not be part of this inhumane slaughter...

McDonalds...McMurder more like...
i am a vegetarian and its the best thing i ever did, the reason i stopped eating meat as i hated the thought of a dead karkas rotting inside my body, if meat was sooo good for you then why when someone has been diagnosed with any serious illness does the doctors and nurses take you off meat straight away?
Maybe because they care about the animals and do not want to see them killed. They might not like meat or seafood.

there is no single reason why. However, if you want some good ones .

meat and other animal products eaten in quantity on a regular basis are a major cause of the diseases that kill most people in the western world

nearly all meat in the shops is contaminated with animal poo

nearly all meat and animal products in the shops are full of drugs and hormones

the average factory farm and/or slaughter house makes a concentration camp look like a holiday camp
everyones different. best i can do is tell u why i am. i was always fussy about my food, an i'd always pick off the bits of fat. then i got real bad about those bits of fat. esp on bacon. yuk. then it started makin me feel sik when i ate certain kinds. then i heard about battery chickens an the conditions they were in. was the nail in the coffin.
Some do so for health reasons, spiritual and personal.
I have a friend who could not seriously digest meat properly. I stopped eating meat/poultry because I did not agree w/ how animals were killed and the hormones that were injected into them or with what they were being fed...
I can't answer for anyone but myself- I gradually reduced the types of meat I ate. I originally gave up red meat to live a healthier lifestyle. Not because I was worried about mad cow disease. Then I thought I could give up poultry (3 months later) and then two months after that I gave up seafood. I've actually gone back to seafood so I'm a pesco vegetarian (and yes that is a real term). I returned to seafood because I read up on Omega 3 acids, and because my sister who lives in a big city turned me on to sushi. I've been eating seafood again for 2 or 3 years but I originally turned veg 5 years ago. Even tried to be vegan, over Thanksgiving, in the first year. Did not work out well...! It lasted about 2 weeks.

A lot of people like to be jerks and ask me if I think fish don't feel pain, since I'm willing to eat them (and all these people, of course, are carnivores).

I don't preach my lifestyle to other people but if they ask why I'm not picking up a hamburger at a barbecue I tell them why. I bring my own veggie burgers and invite anyone who would like to try one to do so.
Mostly for moral reasons, some do it for health, but you can be healthy as a non-vegetarian. I do it to stop cruelty, pollution, and needless waste of resources.

Because we love animals, and we want to be a healthy as possible.
There are many reasons: health, religion, animal rights, etc.
