I want to grow some grapes for wine making - any one know where to purchase stock?

Answers:
Link below has a list of grave vine nurserys, you'll have to scroll down it.

Also, check the vineyards near you - they often sell vines and since they are growing those varieties, they should work for you.

You'll have to choose between a vinifera or a hybrid variety. Vinifera are the pure wine making grape, hybrids are the result of crossing vinifera with native American vines. They are hardier and easier to grow, but are not recognised as making 'fine' wine.

Other Answers:
The best way to locate successfully grown stock is to talk with the various wineries in New England, the close to you the better. They'll know who has the best stock, who has the best support, technical advice, friendliness, the works.

Try the website below, click on "locate wineries by state," and select the state in which you live (Vermont?), and you can get to the wineries by website or e-mail or phone.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how helpful current vineyard and winery owners will be. They've made mistakes you might be able to avoid.

Also, contact your local/state university agriculture department and ask if they have a grape/wine program. More and more states are starting to realize the economic value of wineries and tourism.
