The wormwood contains thujone, the supposed evil that caused it to be banned in the United States, but very little thujone is actually present in the liquor. More likely, the ban marked the start of prohibition and made an easy target.

I did, did not like it. Tried it straight up and mixed with water. It changes the color of water when mixed. Will give you a BIG hangover.
