Answers:
The only proper way to drink absinthe is to purchase an absinthe spoon. Half the fun is in the ritual, but you can use a small serving spoon with holes in it or a fork in a pinch.

Take a shot of absinthe and balance your spoon across the glass, placing one to two sugar cubes on it. Slowly pour cold water over the cubes until the sugar desolves into the drink, creating a milk-like cloudy appearance in the absinthe. The final mix should be 3:1 but can be up to 5:1 water to liquor ratio.

Contrary to popular myth, the amount of wormwood in absinthe is not poisonous, but it does infer a slightly different feeling than other alcoholic drinks (much like tequila or jagermeister impart a different effect than vodka in all reality). The wormwood contains thujone, the supposed evil that caused it to be banned in the United States, but very little thujone is actually present in the liquor. More likely, the ban marked the start of prohibition and made an easy target.

I did, did not like it. Tried it straight up and mixed with water. It changes the color of water when mixed. Will give you a BIG hangover.
