Even Martha Stewart couldn't tell that a bottle of 2 buck chuck merlot wasn't a $20 bottle of wine! I've had all of them and only find that the Cabernet needs a little more air time to eliminate the tanin taste than some more expensive wines. I've seen them served at some rather formal events, sporting the labels rather than served from a decanter. Some people say they can tell that it is a "cheap" wine, but when they are really put to the test, I doubt it.

David G., I don't know where you heard that a 3 buck bottle tastes like an 80buck bottle, but never you worry. Charles Shaw is a respected Wine company, they make good wines, not spectacular but good. Hell I once poured Gallo Hearty Burgundy into an empty Chateau Rothschild (first growth) bottle, re corked it and served it to a group of "wine snobs" who when they saw the label just raved about how good the wine was how it had such depth, flavor, nose, etc., and they would not be caught dead with a bottle of Gallo. Wine snobs are just what the word implies wine snobs, the same people who wear designed jeans because of the label, use designed handbags, wear fake Rolex's when a Timex keeps as good or better time, sleep on a European bed when a Serta is better, just plain snobs who feel that showing off their money makes them better, it just makes them fools. So enjoy your wine and I hope you fool the pros.
In southern Calif. it's known as "2 buck Chuck" which can fool many "experts" An excellent wine for the price (sez I)
It's actually $2.00 (1.99) and it's very good. No one would consider you cheap if you bought it. It flies off the shelves in the stuffiest of city's. Trader Joe's is where you can find it.
In California we call it 'two buck chuck' -- $2.00 a bottle and yes it is good wine My Parents and uncle who can afford to buy Expensive wines buy this by the case loads A very high quality tasting wine!!! Highly recommend

Just to be clear, "Two Buck Chuck" is not always Two Bucks. It's $2.99 in various locations.
It's ok, but when it's compared to some good wines, it certainly doesn't stand up. We used to drink it regularly, but then we started drinking $20 bottles and when we tried it again, it just didn't taste as good. Perhaps it's mental, but so many things in the wine world are subjective.
