Answers:
If you are asking how to know which wines will gain value in time, then track record is the most reliable way. And that means one of a very few well known names, such as Bordeaux first growths, Petrus, Le Pin, Sassiacia, d'Yquem.
But howmuch they'llappreciate depends on the vintage, how that vintage develops and is viewed in the future, and whther the wines you have have been stored in ideal conditions.
You need to start reading Decanter magazine - they have a tracker on appreciating wines. You'll see the names and how they've done.
A cheaper way to start is with Marilyn Merlot. Its quite cheap on release but checkthe MM website and you'll see the early wines have appreciated considerably.
But there are no guarantees.
Wine is for drinking, not investing.
