Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(If I buy a new bottle of red wine, how long should I wait to drink it? Is it bes),it will help you,my kids.
My daughter was born in 2003. The Jordan Winery red wine for 2003 will be available in 2007. Can I wait until her 18th or 21st birthday to celebrate and drink it? Or should I drink it right away?
As you can tell I'm not a wine drinker, just looking for the right time to open the bottle and celebrate without drinking a bottle of vinegar. Thanks, in advance, for your answers.
Answers:
Some people prefer drinking red wines young say 3-4 years after being released. Others prefer to drink wine as it ages. This many times will depend on the region and type of wine you are buying. In general Wine will be much more fruitier rich and extracted and tannic depending on from where when young. As it ages it will get less forward and more elegant. I have found and many other professionals have found California Cab to hit its peak 4-7 years after release. That would make 2007-2010. But We like them a little younger because we enjoy the lush fruit. In contrast French Bordeauxs with their much higher tanin usually need 10-20 years of required cellaring to hit their peak
Other Answers:
Wine in general is like musical instruments. If it is not excellent it will not age well and won't get better.
If you want to open the bottle in 10 years, i suggest a bottle of French Bordeaux St. Emilion. (a Ch. Monbousquet St. Emilion for instance)
If you want to open the bottle in 20 years, i suggest a bottle of Portuguese Vintage Port. (a Croft 2003 Vintage Port for instance) Jordan is a good bet. Probably more of issue is the storage conditions. It should be a in a cool dark location away from temperature fluctuation and vibration.
If I were youm I'd pick up a bottle of Sauternes, which is a long lived French dessert wine from Bordeaux. 2003 was a great year there. Look for Rieussec.
