Answers:
Be sure that the wine does not freeze, and if it gets too warm, that could be just as bad! Try to keep it between 50 and 70 degrees fahrenheit. After you arrive at your destination, allow the wine to settle for at least a week (a month is preferable) before opening.
Other Answers:
Use plenty of bubble wrap.or let the professionals do it.professional moving company.
Get some of those nice padded boxes the liqour store gets their alcohol in. Usually they are happy to give away boxes. Go to your local liquor store and ask them to save you empty boxes in their next delivery, tell them you are packing wine bottles.
the person who suggested getting boxes from the wine store is dead correct: those things are designed to withstand crushing and banging the bottles together during shipment and will be ideal.
if you have good stuff that you'd really like to keep intact, put your wines in your car and drive them with you. the car will stay temperature controlled throughout the duration of your move, unlike the moving van. moving trucks are usually not even insulated>hot-sun-shining-on-dark-painte... in the afternoon.
regular liquor (vodka, rum, etc) should be fine in the moving van, since it's high enough proof that you don't have to worry about spoilage in a sealed bottle.
