I love beer. DOH!!!!

I have always assumed, perhaps wrongly that the percetage was the AMOUNT of alcohol content. How one might MEASURE that difference in percentage, is unclear to me, but 3.2 isn't what I consider BEER anyway.

If 2 bottles were weighed, one stating 3.2% by weigth and the other 6% by volume,,,and the label stated 12 OZS. they would both WEIGH the same.

Life,,, At MOes yes it is if there the same beer a 3.2 abw beer is only 4% by volume. ABV is a better way to measure which is why most brewerys use it. 6% abv is pretty strong, 4% abv is less than alot of light beers out there

Alcohol by Weight X 1.25 = Alcohol By Volume
Alcohol By Volume X .8 = Alcohol by Weight weight has nothing to do with the alcohol % in a alcoholic drink. if you took a normal bottle of whiskey which would run bout 80 proof (which is 40% alcohol) and you poured out a cup of it the rest left in the bottle would be 40% still and so would the whiskey in the cup. and almost all american lagers are going to be 5% alcohol (unless you r in a state like oklahoma or utah) weither the beer is lite or not. in the states that allow higher then 3.2 the beers that say ice on them are going to be bout 5.5% no matter if they are lite or not. (ice house, ice house lite, bud ice, or bud lite ice) but if you are going to go to texas any way might as well pick up some good beer try churchhill 10% or korbinian (a doppelbock which is 8%) these beers no only have a higher alcohol % they taste much better then any american lager
