Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days, anyone help us?
Kitty said: Yes.What's the best Hefe Weizen available in the US?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(What's the best Hefe Weizen available in the US?),it will help you,my kids.
It's a yeasty beer, I had the best ones in Deutschland.
Answers:
1. Get imported German hefeweizens! Beverages and More is a good choice locally. Check out Beeradvocate.com for some online beer stores. You can get Schneider Weisse (my fav), Weihenstephaner, Paulaner, Franziskaner, etc.
2. American brewpubs are hit and miss. Hefeweizen is a relatively easy style to brew, but the best ones are rare and found by trial and error. Are you in NY? There's a company called High Point Wheat Beer Company, they make a whole line of wheat beers (Ramstein).
3. AVOID Widmer hefeweizen. It's a mass produced bitter, unfruity, neutral american wheat ale, certainly nothing like a german hefe weizen.
Other Answers:
Widmer's not too bad for a mass-produced hefe
