I think of it as a fancy mix on those rare summer days when I put an ice cube in my Scotch (but never in the good stuff). But to avoid being too curmudgeonly I try to have lemons and limes to make sweet & sour mixes, colas, 7-Ups, perhaps ginger ale, soda, tonic water, and a smattering of fruit juices handy in case of emergency visitors. If that doesn't cover it, I didn't want those people at my house anyway.
Coke, Sour mix, limes, Tonic, Cream, 7up, OJ, Cranberry Juice. That should get most of the drinks.
