Hi - It is my understanding that the very first colas were made partially from extract from coco leaves, yes, the same leaves which cocaine is extracted from. That was the wake up and energy that coca-cola and others advertised in the 1800's. The colas of today apparently are made of several different ingredients, pretty much at the descression of the maker. In the case of Coke..the ingredients have been a highly protected trade secret almost forever! Sorry, I could not give a much more direct answer!
