I'm wanting to know what kind of wine is good to drink alone. Most I have tried are too bitter to drink without food. I'm new to drinking wine so bring on the suggestions :0)

Answers:
hm. First of all, wine isn't so much about the price of the bottle, but quality. I usually stay away from red wines if I am not eating. Don't go too cheap (i.e. mad dog, the crap in a box, boone's, etc.)
try a good dessert wine. They are made to be drunk as the name implies, as a dessert.
A nice wet sweet white wine from california is what I recommend.
Try pinot grigio (it is not a brand but a style). It is white, sweet (not tart) wet and tastes great as a stand-alone. If you have to go cheap, don't buy any thing less than carlo rossi, but I recommend a pinot grigio from sonoma or napa valley california.

Cheers!

Other Answers:
I recommend beer.

Mad Dog, Boones, and Cisco Ripple or M.D. 20/20 are nice delicate wines to drink alone or maybe some Sweet Lucy another good choice.

White Zinfendel is a great wine for sipping all alone. Also san grias can be very nice. sweet with lots of fruity flavors.

Why do you want to drink alone? Red wines go with red meat typically, and white wines go with fish, and seafood. Also to find a less bitter wine try chardoney.

Champagne can be a good option. Try a pinot grigio (white) or pinot noir (red). Both a lighter wines, and not bitter. 'Tio Pau' Red or White medium sweet!

Anjou' white sweet, nice bottle!

Most Aussie wines are fruity because of the sun hours!

White."It's never O.K to drink alone" German wines such as reislings tend to have a sweeter taste, which may be more palatable to someone just starting on wines with an aversion to the more bitter wines.

A nice dessert wine. Reislings and Gewurtzramieners are excellent. I don't like how sweet Chardonnays are so I like the spice of a Gewurtzramiener.

Tonight, having a Calif. Merlot. Nice to drink by it self.

Hmm.. red/white?

Do you prefer smooth wines/a little spicy? If you prefer lighter, go with a light fruity merlot/sparkling white...or for a full-bodied wine, try a deeper Shiraz, but blends are the absolute best. WA state has some great blends out Cab/Shiraz/Merlot blends...seem to have a great balance of fruit & smoother. Italian/French reds are great, try a mild/smooth Cote du Rhone. Can find some inexpensive decent wines at the market.
