My most beneficial experience with drugs was about 10 years ago. I was about to be cut open for surgery and they gave me a general anesthetic. I didn't feel any pain and don't remember anything. I woke up a few hours later, but it seemed like just a few minutes to me.
That's my best experience. The procedure was painless. If I had surgery without anesthesia it would probably be the worst thing to happen to me that week.
