I think Vodka "tasts" fine. There is much, much worse in my opinion. But this is coming from someone who likes sake (which I recommend to anyone who likes Vodka).
I have tasted things much worse. (brussel sprouts)
Only one of the reasons I no longer drink. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Vodka tastes great. If you don't believe this take a few shots of everclear (or anything else over 180 proof) every day for a week or two and by the end of it Vodka will taste like creame soda! (ok not exactly as good as creme soda but you get the idea)

If it is a good quality vodka it should not have very much taste at all. Some of the vodkas made from rye grain are much smoother. Throw some fruit in it and you won't have to taste it at all.
Give Grey Goose a try; it's a very good vodka.
