... and why whiskey is yellow ? ;-)

Answers:
So, the first 4 people who answered this question are wrong. The color of the grapes is not always indicative of the color of the finished wine. Many champagnes (which are white) are made with Pinot Noir grapes (which are red!)

The colour of wine is not determined by the JUICE of the grape, which is almost always clear, but rather by the presence or absence of the grape SKIN during fermentation.

Red wine is made from red (or black) grapes, but its red colour is bestowed by the skin being left in contact with the juice during fermentation. White wine can be made from ANY colour of grape as the skin is separated from the juice during fermentation.

Whiskey gets its color from a few different things. First, the grain it is made from affects the color of the finished product. Whiskey can be made from barley, rye, corn and other things depending on where it is produced. Also, whiskey is usally aged in charred oak barrels which impart a distinctive flavor and golden color. Many whiskeys also have brandy added to them for color and flavor.

Other Answers:
white grapes VS green grapes

Its to do with the grapes that have been used to make them -white grapes for white wine, red for red wine etc. Whisky is yellow because of the colour of the hops that are used to make it It has to do with what they're made from. White wine is made from white grapes. Red wine is made from red grapes. It's only natural that the product would match the color of the ingredients.

white is made with juice from light fleshed grapes and red is from the reed fleshed grapes. Red sometimes is stronger.
you can also get wine from blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, each with a distinctive color and flavour

what is wine. Whiskey is fermented urine White wine from white grapes. Red wine is colored from the skin of the red grapes.

Whiskey is yellow because they char (burn) the inside of the oak barrels before putting the whiskey in to age. its the process in making red wine and white wine, and it doesn't mean that white wine came from that of lighter colored grapes. they separate the color to give it that distinct color. so if you are drinking white wine it still came from red grapes
