How common are wine headaches, and what is "common knowledge" about why they occur. I mean shortly after drinking certain wines, not the morning after ;)

Answers:
Many people are allergic to tannins in the wine. Since white wines have less tannins, you may wish to consider drinking them instead of reds.

Other Answers:
Probably from the sulfites.

Sulfites are often added in the production of wine, but wine will make a little of its own if you don't add any.

You can buy wine that has had no sulfites added - you may want to try that.
Wine Headaches can be caused by a number of things. The most common wine headaches is caused by sulfites in the wine. Sulfites can be found in the skins of grapes. Red wines have more natural sulfites than white wines. Todays wine makers utilize the introduction of sulfites to stabilize the wine. Organic wines do not traditionally introduce additional sulfites. If you get wine headaches three suggestions. 1. Drink more white wine 2. Shop for Organic Wines 3. A product on the Market called The Perfect Sommelier which allows wines to mature faster naturally also has been identified as a sulfite reducing product.
