    i sneeze when i drink alcohol. why does this happen & how can i prevent it?

Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days,anyone help us?

i have sneezing fits & my nose becomes very stuffy & congested when i drink alcohol. i can't link it to any particular kind of alcohol & it doesn't occur every time, only sometimes. sometimes i sneeze when drinking a mixed vodka drink & other times it's beer or wine, nothing in particular really. sometimes it doesn't happen at all. i do have an allergy to mold. could that be part of the problem? what could be causing this & how can i prevent it besides not drinking alcohol?

booze is actually an allergen as well as beer. you are allergic to alcohol. they use hops in beer which when placed in beer it gets moldy. and hard liquor is distilled at some point and poured in to barrels which can be moldy inside. stick to non alcohol beverages including alcoholess beer and see if you sneeze

Put a clothes pin on your nose while drinking.

Could it be that the people around you while you're drinking are smoking? Or that you're drinking in a bar which contains smoke? If it's not a regular occurrence when drinking the same drink, then I would say you should consider other factors. It could also be that the fumes when drinking spirits, especially when mixed strongly, could be affecting your sinus membranes. don't drink

it would appear you are allergic to booze you ll have to stop drinking. hehehe ill drink to that!

i't seems to me it is because the drink is cold, and if you keep drinkin for an hour, your nasal cavity has been cold for an hour too, so esencially you have sensivity for the cold temperature, not for the alcohol itself, why it doesn't happen whith soda?...because you dont usually keep drinking soda for more than an hour..you just have it in 5 minutes and trow the can, but alcohol..yeah...i dont know you..but i coud keep drinking for hours...so, what you have to do is to have an ahtihistaminic (ask on the drugstore) before you drink..and enjoy...i think it can be taken whith alcohol.

The same thing happens to me. I normally have allergies every now and then (even without drinking). I suppose drinking lowers my immune defense making me even more susceptible to any allergen (dust, mold, pollen etc...). So I take Claratin, if the stuffy nose and sneezing gets really bad, or most often wait it out- the symptoms normally goes away on its own. (hope this helps a little) drink milk with beer it help me

It sounds to me like you might be allergic to something in these drinks.Possibly wheat?You should go see your doctor and find out.There has to be something you can drink without it bothering you.I do know tequila has no wheat added you could try a tequila sunrise next time your at the bar and see how that works.

Plug your nose when you are going to take a sip of alcohol. Maybe your allergic to alcohol all together, or certain types of alcohol like vodka,made out of potatoes, whisky, grains.

the cause could be some pesticides that are used for raw materials (for producing vodka and wine),
or from preservatives that are used in production to prevent vodka or wine to became bad

i dont know do a robo your first drink then you should be good all nite.

alcohol is made of rotten fruits etc, so its probably linked in that way to your allergy to mold. put a close peg on your nose next time you go drinking
