i have a friend of mine he just drinking on the weekend, but he is waiting for this day all the week, and he also like to start drinking alone at home and then to join us when we go out clubing.i think he is alcoholic, is he?

Answers:
An alcoholic, or one who is addicted to alcohol, would not be able to limit their drinking to one (or two) days out of the week. As far as the drinking alone at home prior to meeting up at the club: Drinks at the club are grossly overpriced! When I was partying with my friends, we would do the same thing: Drink at the house first.

Now, if he gets to a point where he is actually drinking every day, or feeling like he has to have a 'nip' to get up in the morning, and making daily stops to the liquor store after work, then he has a problem.

Other Answers:
People in AA don't drink at all, and they are alcoholics. But, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

It sounds as if He might be, but then again if He doesn't drink thru the week he may be looking forward to relaxing with friends. If He starts to drink everyday in excess then He has a Problem. Hope this is not the case. No way!
My definition of an alcoholic is when someone let's their drinking get in the way of personal life, such as employment. And more than just once a week.

An alcoholic is someone who:

1. can't control what they do when they drink...
2. can't control when they drink...
3. can't control how much they drink...

Any one of the three can make you an alcoholic. Your friend is controlling his drinking duration (#2), but does he lose control (#1) or drink constantly (#3) when out? If so, he may be an alcoholic.

Invite him out to a non-alcoholic event on the normal date of his drinking. Can he handle it or does he blow you off to drink? That is a definite indication of his problem if there is one.

Have you brought your concerns up to him? If there is a problem he may become defensive and combative. If not he may just want to save some bucks befor going clubbing. Is he driving? All of these things are an issue.

I'm a master breath alcohol trainer & tester He's an alcoholic only if he goes to meetings. I wouldn't call him a drunk of how you describe it.

You can call him whatever you want. But I call you nosy.

Maybe he start drinking alone at home because you and the rest of your group turn up your nose at him if he orders a second round.

Have you think that maybe that is the way he lets out steam? He sounds responsible that he only drinks in weekends. Why don't you and your friends do something that might not envolve the clubing lifestyle or maybe actually have intelligent conversations so he could be interested and doesn't need alcohol to find you interesting. no that if they drink from the time they get up intil they go to bed then you can call them that
