Answers:
Make chunky, not crisp cookies. Bag in zip bags and fill the box with unsalted popcorn-- maybe some microwave packs if they have access to a microwave- DishPan cookies are good-- Hermits also.
Hermits:
l Cup soft shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup cold coffee
MIX TOP 4 TOGETHER

3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
SIFT DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
ADD DRY TO WET INGREDIENTS
THEN RAISINS AND NUTS.

2 1/2 chopped raisins
1 1/4 cup broken nuts

Chill dough at least an hour. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees until set...8-10 minutes, just until when touched lightly with a finger, almost no imprint remains.

My peanut butter cookies are too "short"-- they crumble.

Dish pan cookies (name is because it makes a bunch)

2 Cups brown sugar
2 Cups white sugar
2 Cups cooking oil
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
Cream well then add:
4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp salt
then gently fold in:
1 1/2 C. quick oats
4 cups corn flakes

drop by spoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 7-8 minutes.
makes a "dishpan" full. can freeze after baking.

Other Answers:
Shrink Wrap, Tin Can, Peanuts, Box.
lots of bubble rap ( pop pop)
What?????????? what kind of cookies are them?
I have no idea try to eat them all before you send them over or something....
Ziplock bags or air tight container placed inside a sealed bucket. (Just for fun use small bags of popped corn instead of packing material)
in a tin box like the one you store Xmas cookies. So they will not break. Additonally put the tin box in another ...carton box and make enough newspapers to fill the empty space, so that it will not move or turn around.
In metal box( you can bay candy in metal box and use box),put in box piece of bread, cookies will be like fresh
I line a 39-oz coffee can with a gallon-size ziplock bag (fits just right!), then put the cookies in there, and zip the bag shut, and put the plastic lid back on the coffee can.

If you want, you can crumple up some paper towels or paper napkins in the bottom of the coffee can before you put the ziplock bag in, and put some at the top too, as extra padding.

I use bubble wrap as padding for some things, but crumpled newspaper works just as well, and it's cheaper.

Peanut butter cookies will do JUST FINE :-))

Get the people at your church group, or where you work, to bring in empty coffee cans for you! Tell them why you want them, and most people are happy to do it!

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@I actually bought one of those vacuum-seal machines, to assure that the cookies would arrive *fresh*

NOT a good idea. When the vacuum-sealing process was complete, the cookies (oatmeal raisin) were these poor, crushed, shriveled little lumps. I sent them anyway, and my friend (he's a VERY good sport) ate them, but he laughed, and said they were "interesting."

That's when I went to the coffee-can method. I wouldn't try to send almond tuilles that way (too fragile), but almost any reasonably-sturdy cookie will do well.

I'd say don't waste your money on a vacuum sealer, if this would be it's only use.
The best way to do it is to get one of those shrink wrap machines that wrap the cookies up in a airtight package and then put it in a tin can, tape that up, bubble wrap it and then put it in a box. You could send it in one of those shipping boxes at the post office that is the same price for whatever weight the package is in. They also have those availible for express mail.
The reason why you should package it so well is because it keeps the cookies fresh and keeps any kind of critter out the the packaging.
Good luck to you and your son, I hope he recieves the cookies
