Answers:
"Alcohol can lower your blood glucose levels, so be sure to consume a carbohydrate with the alcohol and we suggest no more than 2 drinks (beer, wine, or mixed drinks) at any one time. Hope that helps."

"Alcohol is processed by the liver -- detoxified actually. While the liver is processing alcohol, it cannot release glucose to the blood stream -- and that is where the risk for hypoglycemia comes from. The liver's ability to release glucose to the blood stream when you haven't eaten for a while is an important protection against low blood sugar.

If you drink alcohol on an empty stomach, your insulin may keep lowering your blood sugar and your body will have no way to prevent hypoglycemia. Snacking on carbohydrate foods along with your alcoholic beverages will keep glucose coming into the blood stream while your liver is busy handling the alcohol. "

Other Answers:
you shouldnt drink alcohol anyway its really fattening and unhealtly
Rubbing or isopropyl alcohol is okay.
any kind. Just drink responsibly and check your blood sugar 2 hours afterwards. Then give yourself extra insulin if you need it. Alcohol raises blood sugar!!! Also, do not drink alone. Have friends there that know what to do if something should happen to you. There is no reason you can not drink. Just don't get drunk. I've been diabetic for 16 years, and on insulin, and have never had a problem. I enjoy a drink fairly frequently.
chocolate milk, volcano style
bacardi superior and diet coke
Bourbon and soda works quite nicely for me. You may want to avoid cocktails with hig sugar mixers such as fruit juices, sweet and sour mix or simple syrup. Just be smart about it and you'll be okay.

Very informative answer by Sunshine Girl..and in addition - in the South Beach Diet book which is based around glucose levels they suggest Red wine as the only alcohol to drink as it has lower sugar levels. White wine is higher in sugars.

Beer turns to sugar very quickly - and that should be your bottom option. Avoid Baileys Irish Cream also.

Vodka may not be too bad - but then again - you'd probably put it in fruit juice and that wouldn't help you either.

I say - develop a taste for red wine!
