Answers:
different types of people, a good variety of booze, quality bar staff and a beer garden!
Other Answers:
the smell of stale beer
friendly bar staff, atmosphere, and decent non-overpriced stuff :)
A live band (in my opinion, Rock, from classic to new rock like Mudvayne and Audioslave), wide variety of drinks and beer, good looking waitresses, large dancefloor, plenty of billiard tables, a few dart boards, and not a single bouncer to be seen (maybe in the background, just not seen somehow). I frequent a place kind of like this.
working in a pub id hav 2 say the customers old to the young mad to the moody a gud crowd to liven the atmosphere and ov course a barmaid like myself that can pull a bloody gud pint!!!!
Great bar staff a mix of all ages drinking there a big screen for the football live music on a weekend and definately no trouble..Just like my local also does food.
A good pub is where you can walk in and not get starred at by the locals propped up against the bar. Atmosphere and friendliness is what makes pubs great in the UK, but there are far too many pubs you can walk in where regulars make you feel uncomfortable because they don't know you. If it's a public house everyone has the right to be there, the more the merrier!. I moved to my village 7 years ago and do not like going to the local because l'm not 'accepted'. It's such a disgusting attitude, l have to drive to town instead, then can only have one or 2 drinks (which l don't like doing). Such a shame, but so common in many villages across the country. I wish these small minded people would get a life and see further than their front door step, it's such a sad way to live, not to mention boring, why would you want to hang out with the same people day in and day out for the rest of your lives?. Most people in my local pub look utterly miserable, maybe they stare because you are something different to look at!. Cheer up people, smile when someone new walks in, you don't know who they are and it's always fun to find out, you may end up good friends or they can give you new opportunities!.
Staff that actually take your order instead of ignoring you for half an hour whilst serving the girl with the skimpy top on at the other end of the bar who's just turned up.
Cool bar-staff (i was one) good selection of beers and spirits always go well and if your hungry a decent food menu.
An old fashioned pub that hasn't been themed and hasn't changed it's name for three hundred years.
A place that serves real ale and allows you to smoke.
A place where you can put the world to rights and share anecdotes with your friends.
A place where the landlord knows your name and the barstaff don't think that the pub exists for their benefit and that they have a rough idea who is next in the queue to be served.
I am quite happy for it to serve food as long as it doesn't interfere with the above activities. And also, where parents don't think that the responsibility for supervising their children should be shared between the barstaff and other customers.
Ideally, the pub would reside in a quaint village, have a decent car park and toilet facilities. And, by the way, trouble makers are not tolerated.
Great wine, best bugers n fries, nice music.
comfy seats/sofa's, clean glasses! non-smoking, good music.
If they have Courvoisier .X.O.
a warm freindly atmoshere, and clean toilets which you dont find very often !!!!!!!
comfy seats, fireplace in the evening, decent juke box, no smoking, friendly locals who dont stare at you as soon as you walk in, decent selection of crisps and nuts, generous portions of good pub grub, no stale beer smell, clean bathrooms, different theme nights- karoake, pub quiz, darts competition.nice bar staff who can pull a good pint... beer garden yeah!
lots of good drink, people who know how to pull decent pints, a small amount of smoke just for atmosphere, pool tables, dart boards, nice food, no kids running around, no family freindly atmosphere.
Cheap but good tap beer, several unlevel pool tables, dart board, rockin' juke box, stench of stale beer, vomit, & ciggies, and an occasional pipeload being passed around.
Ah, heaven.
lots of good alcohol!!
