does anyone here know wanything bout wine can anybody tell me how you smell vanilla, caramel and other funy stuff in wine?

People like to talk about wine and to discuss the flavors they notice. It is not very descriptive to say "it tastes like wine" (which, of course, it does) so they use other descriptive words.

Vanilla as a descriptor occurs quite frequently because that smell and flavor is given to wines that have been aged in American oak barrels.

The better the wine, the more flavors there are. If you cannot think of much to say about a wines flavor, then it is likley a inexpensive ordinary wine.

Next time you have a glass of wine, pause, smell it, then take a large sip, swirl it around your mouth. What tastes can you get?

The funny thing about wine is that although it is made from grapes, it doesn't taste of grapes.

If it is Cabernet Sauvignon, maybe it reminds you of blackcurrants, Sauvignon Blanc though could remind you of a newly mown lawn. An oaked Chardonnay tastes buttery.

There is no big secret, anyone who can taste can do it.

We are using dry woods for this educations.
You have to start to smell vanillia,caramel,grape...etc before smell wine...
You have to smell them and make pratice...In your kitchen, in the garden,in a forest...All time...
How can i explain vanillia's smell from here?If i could do that i would be a writer :)
